Dialogues
Contemporary Art from Museum Collection

Overview

Since the Setagaya Art Museum opened in 1986, it has explored the origins of artistic creation by energetically acquiring fine works of contemporary art from inside and outside Japan. These acquisitions have been inspired by the museum’s policies of “exploring naivety in art” and “exploring the condition of art in relation to society.” As the museum reopens, this exhibition is being presented to reacquaint the public with our wonderful collection of contemporary art, sharing some of its less known aspects. Experiential and participatory programs, including a variety of workshops, will be held to help visitors better understand these enigmatic and fascinating works of art.
