Ryohei KOISO

Overview

Koiso Ryohei (1903-1988) was born and raised in Kobe. While attending Tokyo School of Fine Arts (today\'s Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music), he showed a precocious talent, winning prizes in the Imperial Art Exhibition. He produced many excellent paintings as a representative painter of the Showa era. Bringing together almost 200 works, including 61 oil paintings and many drawings (some changes will be made during the exhibition), this will be the most complete retrospective of Koiso\'s work ever organized. It will provide an opportunity to gain an intimate understanding of this artist who carefully observed and pondered the world around him and used it as the source of his art. We hope you will enjoy experiencing the profound stories in images that could only have been created by Koiso Ryohei.
