Rosanjin went to America in 1954 at the invitation of Nelson Rockefeller, chairman of the Japan-America Society, and he had a great deal of influence on American artists. This show of ceramics by Kitaoji Rosanjin from the Setagaya Art Museum collection is being presented concurrently with an exhibition of contemporary American ceramics so that visitors can enjoy the work of this Japanese master in comparison with the Americans. It also includes newly acquired dyeing works by Mitsugi Yamada and a number of major paintings.
