Samiro Yunoki (1922-) became involved in the Mingei (Folk Craft) movement led by Muneyoshi Yanagi and decided to become a textile artist. He studied under Keisuke Serizawa after being introduced to him by Yanagi. Yunoki's textile designs, characterized by bold compositions and brilliant colors, brought new life to the world of stencil dying. This exhibition presents works donated to the Setagaya Art Museum by the artist, including new work. A small exhibit of the works of Hisakatsu Hijikata is also presented.
