An overview of the work of architect Uchii Shozo, known for his designs of the Setagaya Art Museum, International Japanese Culture Research Center, the new part of Imperial Palace, and Oita City Museum of Art. The architect’s thinking is introduced along with his buildings. Uchii infuses his architecture with the order of nature and gives importance to ornament that emerges spontaneously. His ideal of making architecture people-friendly and bringing it closer to the people using it is revealed through drawings, architectural plans, photographs, models, and video.
