Pleasure in the History of Fashion
From the Akira Ishiyama Collection

Overview

Focusing primarily on the collection of Akira Ishiyama (1918-2011), a scholar of Western clothing, this exhibition presents fashion books and plates dating from the 16th to the beginning of the 20th century, as well as historical monographs and colored prints from the Meiji Period. By also presenting clothing of the same eras from the Kobe Fashion Museum Collection, the exhibition explores the myriad charms of fashion books and plates containing illustration of clothing, artist’s works, and prints.
