Copperplate Print Artist Komai Tetsuro: Constellations on the Palm of His Hand

Overview

KOMAI Tetsuro (1920–1976) was one of Japan’s most significant print artists. Commemorating the 50th anniversary of his death, this retrospective follows the trajectory of Komai’s entire career, not only through prints but also rare oil paintings from his student days as well as book and magazine illustrations. Prints that Komai collected from Japan and abroad, a look at the artists who influenced him, and photos of his studio are among the supplementary materials that provide an overview of the man and his life.
