Visiting Minka
Junkichi Mukai in the 1960s

Overview

In the 1950s and '60s, Mukai gradually established his approach to depicting minka and he enthusiastically set off to visit the dwellings all over Japan. In this exhibit, we present a variety of Mukai's works, including pictures of Western buildings and landscapes that he encountered on a return visit to France.
